Mona Hatoum: between desire and fascination Born in Beirut to a Palestinian family, Mona Hatoum settled in London in 1975 after civil war broke out in Lebanon. She began her career in mid-1980s with a series of performances and video work, before switching her main focus to installations and sculptures in early 1990s. She finds delight in engaging spectators by inspiring conflicting emotions of desire and repulsion, fear and fascination. |
