We're excited to announce that we've partnered with professional ballet dancer, Tara Brigitte Bhavnani to bring you a series of ballet inspired pre-natal exercise classes. Tara is a ballerina with London's Royal Ballet, performing at their historic home in Covent Garden and in many of the most famous theatres across the world.

As Tara is currently pregnant with her second child, we thought this would be a great opportunity for her to share some pregnancy friendly exercises that you can follow along with from the comfort of your home.

The classes are broken down into three 10 minute videos: a warmup, ballet barre class and cool down, so you can put all three classes together to create a fun, pregnancy friendly workout.

    First of all, warm up!

'Warming up is essential, but even more so during pregnancy so that you can safely prepare your body for exercise. Starting slowly and building up gradually like I do in this first video, will also ensure you are using the correct muscles from the most basic movements to the harder ones we'll be doing later on.'

Now onto the main event: the ballet barre class. Simply grab a chair and you're good to go!

'A ballet barre is a great way for pregnant women to build and maintain 'long' muscles. The more effort and engagement you are able to put into these exercises, the more benefits you'll experience.  However detail is everything in ballet and that is what makes it perfect for pregnancy. The movements may look simple but they are structured in a way that will help you feel lifted and toned.'

Now it's time to cool down and relax.

'After any workout is the ideal time to stretch out your muscles while they slowly cool down. You will be able to gently ease further into stretches and this will help to improve your flexibility and range of motion. This in turn, can help with common problems in pregnancy, such as pelvic and back pain.'

We hope you love the classes and enjoy channeling your inner ballerina as much as we did!
