Favorite part of being a Gear Advisor?

I am lucky to live in Oregon and have access to everything the PNW has to offer. From the deserts to the east, to the lush forests in the west, I love anything I can get my tires on! Although nothing beats an all-day ride on some rough and secluded backcountry trails.

Favorite places to ride?

I once got to go on a trip to Moab with Devinci Cycles and it was incredible! I had never seen terrain so alien looking. Around every corner was a new rock formation or challenging trail feature to try. The bikes were awesome and spending a couple of weeks on the road is always unbeatable.

What bike do you ride?

The newest addition to my fleet is a Yeti ARC. I have always loved hardtails, and this might just be the best one out there! It started as a T1 build but was quickly upgraded with Hope brakes, and an ENVE cockpit to really dial in the feel. It’s light, comfortable, fast, and nothing beats the direct rider to trail experience a hardtail provides.

ENVE M6 MTB Handlebar

I firmly believe that contact points are one of the most important upgrades you can make to a bike. All too often bikes come with handlebars that are far too stiff for your weight, riding style, and terrain. The ENVE M6 offers a finely tuned amount of flex that reduces stress on your body, and that can help you ride further.  

Continental Der Kaiser Projekt Tire

Perhaps the most vital contact point on your bike is tires. Finding one that fits your needs can make or break your ride, no matter how expensive your bike is! The Conti Der Kaiser is my go-to year around tire for the PNW. It has a consistent tread pattern that works well in our loose soils, plenty of protection from lava rocks, and the Black Chili rubber is unrivaled in grip on wet and slippery surfaces. Something we get a lot in the PNW! Pair it with a deep-biting Der Baron up front for the ultimate winter set-up or run them front and back for an aggressive summer combo! 

Dakine Hot Laps 5L

Once I stopped using backpacks for hydration, I could never go back! Backpacks can be heavy, hot, and often bouncy. The hip pack solves all those issues. The Dakine Hot Laps 5L is big enough to carry the essentials, plus it has a 2-liter Hydrapak for those long summer rides. Top that off with a rugged construction, it will serve you for seasons to come.
