The company got its name from the Montegrappa mountain, rising 1775m over the Bassanese landscape. Originally, when the company was set up it was for private label companies which is why some of the original pens are so hard to get hold of and therefore very sought after. In 1981, Gianfranco Aquila buys the company with the goal to introduce the brand to the world. Since then, Montegrappa has been an exceptionally well respected name in the luxury pen world.
