World Mental Health Day 2021 | | | | In this week’s Emma newsletter let’s talk about sleep deprivation - a mental health condition that is dangerously widespread.
People don’t always know when they are suffering from sleep deprivation, and the amount of sleep required varies from person to person. A few tell-tale signs include becoming more irritable and showing little positivity in facial expressions. Given enough time without sleep, one could also run the risk of increasing the odds of obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, a decrease in mental health, and even premature death. | | | | So, what can we do to help alleviate sleep deprivation? | | | | 💡 The secret lies in creating good sleeping habits that you will stick to.
Be sure to keep your electronic devices away, get off social media, and dim the lights. You can always work in some meditation or yoga if that’s something that you’d like to try. The important thing is that you develop a routine that is enjoyable for you and is something that you look forward to each and every night.
👨⚕️ If you are having persistent bouts with your mental health, you might need to consult your doctor to understand the severity of the situation.
Depression and anxiety are serious and may require counseling or medication to effectively treat the condition. If you feel that your condition is mild and is only affecting your sleep, be sure to keep a close eye on things as they may worsen. | | | | To help you get better and deeper sleep, we're giving you a special discount on our range of products!
