As an airline, we are well aware that our industry must become more sustainable and that we must do our utmost to reduce our environmental impact. KLM has therefore committed itself to pursuing the objectives of the Paris climate agreement.
For years, we have endeavoured to reduce our CO2 emissions through fleet renewal and by making our products and operations more sustainable. In addition, KLM is committed to leading the industry in the development and utilisation of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Although we already hold a substantial share of the global SAF market, SAF accounts for less than 1% of our total fuel consumption. To achieve our climate ambitions, we intend to power 10% of our flights with sustainable aviation fuel by 2030. To this end, we will be taking two new initiatives, which are briefly outlined below.
