Hello, so if you receive our newsletters regularly, you’ll know that we asked our Customer Service Manager, Nina, to review 14 of our most popular wide calf boots. Nina made a start with Annfield, and this week she’s been wearing Brora in an extra wide calf in a size 8/8.5US 39EU and you can see the results of all of the reviews by checking into our Instagram @widewidths or by following us on facebook @widewidthboots.
Carl, our CEO introduced Brora to the collection three years ago. Brora is Carl’s favourite design. He suggested Nina trail a pair when the style was first launched and if we are honest, we’d say Nina was a bit dubious about it at first.
Apparently, she hadn’t worn heels since her days in the City, working in the events industry. For Nina, running around after little people all day, heels are the last thing on her mind, and before she knew it 10 years had passed, and she’d worn little other than flats, sneakers or her favourite pair of wide calf boots Burton.
So! Three years ago, she brought home her first pair of Brora boots in an extra wide calf. Choosing the cognac leather version as she loves the colour. Nina will tell you as soon as she put the boot on it looked and felt amazing.
This time around we sent her a leather suede combination in Espresso/Asphalt Grey. You might wonder why we sent her the same style when she already had a pair. Well, she thought the suede would make my legs look bigger, conscious of their size she wanted to avoid that.
This week, Nina has worn the two pairs of Brora, her old leather ones, and the new suede/leather combination. Not having worn heels all summer, she was worried about how comfortable she would feel.
Nina was shocked at how comfortable the suede ones were even though they were fresh out of the box. Walking on the platform sole was easy and fastening the boots was not at all difficult. Elastic inserts are descretly placed and have oodles of stretch.
AND, why she was so worried about how big the suede would make her legs look? We have no idea as we thought they looked fabulous.
Perhaps even nicer than the leather ones?
The heel is deceptive. It looks high, but the boots are built on a chunky platform sole. Comfortable to walk in too. An anti-slip full track sole offers stability. You’d think it would make the boots look less elegant, but it just makes them more versatile.
Nina put four outfits together and posted them in our Instagram stories. Each outfit was quite different. Casual, smart, for the office or a night out. Each outfit came straight out of her closet.
So why not give a heel a go. You never know you might love it.
In recent years we have introduced a Super Plus Wide range to the collection and have increased the number of colours and styles available in calf width fittings up to 24 inches or 60 cm.
So, if you have wide feet, thick ankles and or large calves, you can contact Nina directly at [email protected] or contact us at [email protected] and tell us about the issues you have with buying boots. We offer friendly advice in a warm and kind space. We’d love to help.
This week Nina will be reviewing another style, Burton or Kempten- you can have your say on Instagram. And as the weather is set to rain all week, we are sure to see her out and about in a pair of our wide wellies too.
