2020 Burgundy Has Arrived! Shop Now Before They Are Gone.

We have dubbed the 2020 vintage in Burgundy the “Magical Vintage” and we could not be more excited to bring these utterly spectacular wines to you! Believe us when we say this: nothing less than “magic” needed to happen to bring this vintage together with such striking success.

The struggle was real in 2020! Right from the start, the Pandemic strained everything from the labor force to the supply chain of essential goods, and global setbacks wreaked havoc in ways winemakers and growers could never have predicted. If that was not enough, Mother Nature also had her way with Burgundy! While spring was a bit of dream, summer brought the HEAT. Burgundy recorded one of the hottest summers of the 21st century. The extreme temperatures coupled with a very dry summer demanded one of the earliest harvests on record for most Burgundian producers.

Initially, vintage reports read very scary, but that is where the “magic” came into play! After many years over the past decade of dealing with increasingly hot and dry summers, it seems the vines and farming practices have begun to adapt. The fruit that came into the wineries was concentrated, ripe and, overall, very healthy! Winemaker Frédéric Drouhin, of Maison Drouhin, noted the harvest was “completely homogenous, from Chablis to the Mâconnais, everywhere healthy and ripe, although yields were 20% less than a normal crop.”

We predict that the 2020 vintage will be defined by five key elements: Purity, concentration, depth, balance and longevity. There are some who will say the reds are outstanding, but we argue the whites are also the best in decades! To us, this is not a “red vintage” or a “white vintage,” but rather A MUST-BUY VINTAGE.
