    Dear krazypromo,

Many people believe that it is not necessary to feed the garden birds in the summer due to their natural foods like worms and insects being plentiful, but this isn't always true.

A lack of food for many reasons can happen at any time. Persistent hot weather can cause the ground to become too dry for worms to rise and insects may stay away if the conditions are not in their favour.

Providing high protein foods like mealworms and kibbled peanuts is a brilliant way to keep our birds happy, strong and fed during the hotter months.

But don't worry, birds will always prefer their natural food sources than the food we put in our feeders, they'll only tuck in if they cannot find any delicious worms or insects!

    Have you tried mealworms?

Dried Mealworms are an amazing source of protein which makes them a brilliant summer choice.

We recommend soaking them in water before serving them during summer. This will give them that extra kick of hydration which will prove irresistible to thirsty birds!

Mealworms are usually best served in a table feeder or a ceramic dish.

These are a great summer option to fill your bird feeders.
