Christmas Bird Vote - The Winner Announced |
As we're sure many of you will have noticed and hopefully took part, over the past month we have been asking you to vote for your Favourite Christmas Garden Bird.
In 2015, our Urban Ambassador David Lindo, The Urban Birder, ran a hugely successful vote to find out the country's most favourite bird and it was hardly a surprise when the friendly Robin was announced as the winner. We therefore ran a vote to find out if the nation has an alternate favourite Christmas bird, and if so what it would be.
Our vote included 14 nominees in total, ranging from common well known species that we see everyday to a few more unusual species. |

|
We had a huge response and received just over 5,600 votes in total! Thank you all for taking the time to vote.
And so we can now announce the winners... |

We'll be focusing on these 3 top species over the next few months, so keep an eye on our newsletters and social media channels for hints, tips and fun facts! |
Did you vote for the Long Tailed Tit? Or do you think a different species should have won? Let us know your thoughts on the results on our social media channels (links at bottom of this newsletter). |
As a thank you for taking the time to vote, all voters also had the option to enter our free prize draw to win a winter feeding bundle worth £75! A winner has now been selected and we are pleased to announce the voter that has been chosen at random is Mitchell from Tyne and Wear - Many congratulations! |
The Big Garden Birdwatch Photo Competition |
Thank you all for taking the time to enter our Big Garden Birdwatch Photo Competition. We had a great response, with over 150 entries across all our social media platforms.
With so many entries and of a high standard it was a very difficult decision. It took the judges a while to select the winning photo, so well done to everyone who took part. |

A big congratulations goes to Brita from Lincolnshire who's photo of a lovely group of Long Tailed Tits feasting on some fat balls was selected as the winner.
