We pride ourselves on supplying a variety of nest boxes to meet all needs, from wooden boxes for common garden species such a blue tits and robins, to specialist boxes for more unusual birds, such as Little Owls and Kestrels.
All our nest boxes are carefully assessed by our team of ornithologists to ensure that they are the optimum size for the species for which they are intended. They are also made with the customer in mind, so they can be easily put up, opened for cleaning and can be used in most habitats.
National Nest Box Week takes place every year between 14-21st February and is organised by the British Trust for Ornithology. It is a celebratory period aimed at encouraging more people to help the birds by putting up nest boxes. |

| Bird of the Month - House Sparrow |
Often viewed as a mere small brown bird, a closer look reveals a handsome and colourful bird, with a swashbuckling, cheeky-chap character.
The male has a grey crown and nape, edges with chocolate-brown on the sides of the head, black bib and white cheeks. The upper parts are a mixture of browns, buffs and greys, with white wing bars. The female is much duller, with tawny under parts edged with black and subtler shades of brown and grey. |
House Sparrows are true seed eaters so any type of tube feeder will work wonders in your garden, but you will also often see them searching for food on the ground or beneath you feeding area. As we come into spring, and the busy nesting season, insects and live foods are an important addition to their diet to give them the energy they need to build a nest and raise young. They will also enjoy fat-based products with seeds and insects around the garden, plus peanuts from a mesh feeder. |

House Sparrows can be found in most places, from town and cities, to farmland and open countryside. House Sparrows are social birds and so you will notice that they tend to nest in close proximity to each other. We recommend nest boxes with entrance holes of 32mm or 34mm, and for best results they should be placed against or in the eaves of a building. Take a look at the National Trust House Sparrow Terrace for real communal living. |
