IngramSpark’s Book-Building Tool Updates!📚

IngramSpark’s Book Building tool continues to grow with each new iteration—giving you more features and flexibility with your book's design. Indie authors and publishers within the tool will now be able to create split submissions. This will enable you to simultaneously design one section of your book while uploading a PDF for a different section.

As an IngramSpark customer, you can also upload a cover PDF as a background image for your cover design. Many of you have asked for this exact function, and we’re thrilled to be able to finally present it to you! Also included in this update is a search link to iStock (Getty Images). With the iStock add-on, you can search for an image within the tool, connect to iStock, and purchase a stock image to use within your files.

Upcoming Pricing Changes✉️

Through the holiday season and into 2022, IngramSpark is dedicated to providing you quality service even through times of Supply Chain challenges and uncertainties.The increasing demand for global distribution mixed with cost hikes has put an industry-wide strain on publishing. Still, we are determined to continuously maintain the excellent printing and distribution services you rely on!

To keep things running smoothly, here are a few updates to our pricing and procedures that will begin November 6th:

• U.S. (United States) market: 6% price increase 

• U.K. (United Kingdom) & A.U. (Australia) markets: 3% price increase

Things to keep in mind during this transition:

• These changes do not apply to freight, handling, or title setup related fees 
• We are adding these pricing changes to our online pricing calculator 
• You can update your pricing through the IngramSpark website now/immediately
• We will continue to monitor and report on changes to the supply chain to ensure we provide the service you count on

What’s Going On

Did You Know Series❓ISBNs

An ISBN is one of the most important identifiers to your book, and if used improperly, can cause a world of obstacles for your title. Think of it as a fingerprint or an ID; without it, your flexibility in getting from point A to point B becomes limited.

Free ISBNs are available through IngramSpark for U.S. residents. However, as a global company, we encourage each customer to acquire their ISBN from their country's approved ISBN Agency.

Where you live will determine where you should purchase your ISBN. For instance:

• Bowker  is the official ISBN agency for the US
  
• Nielsen is the official ISBN agency for the U.K. and Ireland
• Thorpe-Bowker  is the official ISBN agency for Australia

Important ISBN Facts

• ISBNs cannot be reused once they are assigned, which protects each version of a book from copyright violations.
• ISBNs are how libraries, bookstores, and distributors (like IngramSpark) identify, keep track of, and properly catalog important information about your book.
• You cannot sell your book through traditional retailers without an ISBN. So no ISBN equals fewer opportunities for your book to be discovered and purchased.
