Answer: C. 2 The 'Bob Semple Tank' & the Schofield Tank Faced with the real threat of Japanese invasion, New Zealand had to face the reality of possibly being cut off from foreign aid, especially in the form of tanks. Bob Semple adapted a design (left) using a tractor as a base with a corrugated iron design. The Schofield tank (right) had some merits - optional use of tracks or road wheels, the tracks using the universal carrier suspension. Ultimately by the time they were built the war had turned & NZ had obtained allied tanks. |
