We've come to the end of the first week of Camo World Cup '22. There's been some close matches and some one-sided affairs. It's goodbye to the 12 losers while the victors progress on to face some bigger names in the world of camo. | | It probably wasn't the fairest match-up for Realtree to go up against the Rhodesian Brushstroke. 61% vs 39% to Brushstroke. Next opponent for Brushstroke, the ubiquitous Woodland in GAME 29. | | | The battle of the unfavoured MCU and UCP. It seems UCP is even less liked than MCU, which won by a heavy margin of 73% over the US opponent. Next it's on to fight it out with the Canadian favourite CADPAT in GAME 30. | | | It was a reasonably close game between Pencott Greenzone and the Chinese arid Flecktarn 'Type 03'. Flecktarn won out in the end by 57% and now progresses on to fight Danish M84...it'll be a tough one to pick, that's GAME 31. | | | The only two 'Dark' camos in the tournament met in this match with Multicam Black easing a victory over Kryptek by 64%. It's now a battle of the Multicams in GAME 32. | | | It was an easy victory for modern day British camo over the WWII era German Splinter. DPM won with 78% of votes. DPM now faces the popular Finnish M05 in GAME 33. | | | There is a feeling that the Finnish M05 is a strong contender to move through to the finals. Another comfortable victory with 60% of the votes over the French CE. The Finnish favourite now faces off against the British DPM in GAME 33. | | | The USAF Digital Tiger Stripe was never destined for a long tournament. The British MTP made sure of that by hammering the DTS by 73% of votes. MTP now goes up against it's arid predecessor DDPM in GAME 34. | | | For those few that favoured the East German Rain pattern over DDPM, it's commiserations. DDPM washed away the dreary Rain pattern with 79% of votes. It now marches on to GAME 34. | | | German Flecktarn cruised to victory over the Romanian M1994 Fleck by earning 69% of votes. This leads to an interesting clash between Flecktarn and US Tiger Stripe in GAME 35. | | | The Swiss TAZ83 Alpenflage put up a fight, but in the end went down to the strength of the US Tiger Stripe. Tiger Stripe took 56% of the votes and now marches on to face Flecktarn in GAME 35. | | | The Czech Vz95 is a good looking camo and perhaps deserved more votes. However the strength of the NZ DPM was too much, gaining 69% of votes, nice! This now sets up a Trans Tasman clash when NZ DPM and AMCU meet in GAME 36. | | | The final match of the week was also shaping up to be the closest, that is until social votes were added into the total. Nord M98 is a nice camo, but the Aussies piled in on the votes for this match and AMCU ended up with 67% of votes. Onto the ANZAC clash now in GAME 36. | | | For more detailed results of all these matches and a preview of next week, check out the competition page. We now take a few days off and will open voting for DAY 9 of the tournament on Monday the 14th of March at midday. | | For those of you actively participating in the tournament and making any purchases, you'll go in the draw to win a weekly giveaway of $50 online store credit. This weeks winner is Jenny .B from Wellington. Thanks for taking part, we'll be in touch soon with your $50 Voucher Code. There will be a GRAND PRIZE of $500 at the end of CWC22! More details to come. | | Officially named TAZ 83 but better known to English users as ‘Alpenflage’ – this some what obscure Swiss camouflage gave the venerable Tiger Stripe a good run for its money in this tournament. Alpenflage was based on an experimental WW2 German camo called ‘Leibermuster’ that is strikingly similar. | | | Entering service in 1957 Alpenflage served all the way up until 1993 with the Swiss Army. Despite the teasing terms such as ‘pizza’ camo, Alpenflage has proved itself in urban & autumn leaf filled forests. | | | If you would prefer to not receive emails related to this tournament, just click the link 'Manage Preferences' below and tick the box 'Remove me from CWC22 Emails' and we'll make sure you just get our regular weekly emails. | | | | For the Latest Intel.
