We've come to the end of the first week of Camo World Cup '22. There's been some close matches and some one-sided affairs. It's goodbye to the 12 losers while the victors progress on to face some bigger names in the world of camo. | | A comfortable victory (67% of votes) for the WWII era German camo Splinter. The ItalianTelo Mimetico is the first exit of the tournament. Splinter will now go on to face the British DPM in GAME 17. | | | Another comfortable victory (70% of votes) for the M05 Finnish pattern. A bit of a surprise margin of victory over the Swedish M90. M05 now moves on to battle French CE in GAME 18. | | | Like the previous two games the USAF camo we have dubbed Digital Tiger Stripe won by an easy margin (66% of votes) over the Polish Puma. Digital Tiger Stripe moves on to face British MTP in GAME 19. | | | The first nail-biter of a match was the arid battle of DDPM and German Tropentarn. DDPM just scraped through with a 51% margin. Goodbye Tropentarn. DDPM moves on to face East German Rain in GAME 20. | | | Romanian Fleck pipped the Turkish pattern in GAME 5, with a margin of 55%. This sets up a battle of the Flecks in GAME 21 as M1994 takes on the powerhouse German Flecktarn. | | | Wz93 Pantera never really had much of a chance against the might of US Tiger Stripe, losing big time by a margin of 70%. Tiger Stripe now moves on to face Swiss Alpenflage in GAME 22. | | | The fight between Vz95 Leaf and Auscam was another close one, the Czech camo just edging out Auscam by 51%. The Leaf pattern now goes up against NZ DPM in GAME 23, an interesting battle ahead. | | | Some might say the Austrian Pea Dot was not presented in the best light, leading to it's drubbing at the hands of Nord M98 by a margin of 65%. Will the M98 have a strong showing in GAME 24 when it faces the Australian AMCU? | | | The battle between the gaudy Urban camo and Mimetico Deserto was taken out by the Italians on this occasion with as safe margin of 62%. Deserto now moves on to face an equally colourful camo, the Belgium Jigsaw in GAME 25. | | | We have some diehard 3 colour fans in the house, so there may have been a tear shed as 6 Colour pipped it at the post with a margin of 57%. Good 'ol Choc Chip now progresses to another desert battle against it's fellow countryman Desert MARPAT in GAME 26. | | | The face-off between 'NWU-1 Blueberry' and the creatively named 'Type 07 Universal' was not as close as we expected, with Blueberry tearing away to a 63% margin win. NWU-1 moves on to duke it out with the modern Italian Vegetato in GAME 27. | | | Another match the in-house forecasters expected to be neck and neck failed to produce a close result. Kryptek was never in the game with ATACS FG winning by a very comfortable margin of 67%. ATACS will now front up against the heavyweight MARPAT in GAME 28. | | | More detailed results of all these matches are available on the competition page. We now take a few days off and will open voting for DAY 5 of the tournament on Monday the 7th of March at midday. | | For those of you actively participating in the tournament and making any purchases, you'll go in the draw to win a weekly giveaway of $50 online store credit. More details to come. | | Week 2 of the tournament kicks off on Monday 7th of March at midday. Here's a look at the matches for the week: | | US 6 Colour 'Chocolate Chip' | | Most notable for its use in the Persian Gulf War, ‘chocolate-chip’ was designed decades prior in 1962. The US was concerned about having to enter conflict areas in the middle east with nothing but olive drab-so the first choc-chip pattern was born. Fortunately hostilities wound down and the pattern was mothballed until 1979, | | | where it re-emerged to operate with US Rapid Deployment Forces protecting US interests in the Persian Gulf. The pattern served the US until the early 90’s where it was replaced in favour of the 3 colour desert pattern. However choc-chip still lives on largely used by countries in the middle east and of course, blockbusters such as ‘Jarhead.’ | | | If you would prefer to not receive emails related to this tournament, just click the link 'Manage Preferences' below and tick the box 'Remove me from CWC22 Emails' and we'll make sure you just get our regular weekly emails. | | | | For the Latest Intel.
