Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) affects 1 in 5 Australians, with prevalence estimated to be 15-25% of the Australian population.
IBS affects people of all ages, and worldwide it's estimated that 10-15% of the population has IBS. This equates to 1 in 7 people, 2 in 3 of which are women!
The third biggest cause of absenteeism worldwide is due to IBS type symptoms, and given how common the condition is within our community, it is barely talked about or socially acceptable to discuss in the classroom, at work, on a romantic date, or, literally ANYWHERE!
