Warnings and signs of the escalating climate crisis are spurring more people and organizations to action as threats grow larger and closer with each day. As the single largest contributor to climate change, businesses are realizing their responsibility to act — and those in the Certified B Corporation community are doing so with a commitment to the people most affected.

By committing to climate justice, B Corps and other businesses recognize that those who are least responsible for climate change are more likely to feel its effects, and that their needs, voices, and leadership must be central to climate action and advocacy. This week we share resources and examples of B Corps leading the way toward a healthier and resilient planet through inclusive and interdependent climate action.

The escalating climate crisis endangers all of us, but its effects are and will not be felt equally by everyone. To help B Corps and other companies taking responsibility to reduce their negative environmental impacts, B Lab and partners recently released the Climate Justice Playbook for Business, which provides insights, guidance, and case studies of companies that are seeking to advance their overall climate action in the communities they impact.
 

While the COVID-19 pandemic threatens people around the world, another global threat continues to grow and threaten at-risk communities: plastic pollution and climate change. Those threats are driving Spruce, a pending B Corp in the UK, to design circular products and pursue environmental and social justice as it gives back to low-income communities.
 

The Climate Justice Playbook for Business: How to Centre Climate Action in Climate Justice includes information to help business leaders understand the intersection of climate action and social justice and advance a justice-centered approach to climate action.
 

In the face of local and global systemic challenges, B Corps and other businesses are navigating new responsibilities and commitments to truly be leaders of change.
