At Certainly Wood, we're continuously looking at ways to help better our business for our customers but also to help the planet. Being sustainable has been a real focus of ours over the past years and we would like to share with you how far we have come and a few things that you can do to help too. 

What Are We Doing?

Tree Planting

Tree planting has always been one of our key concepts at Certainly Wood alongside making sure that we only take 100% British hardwood thinnings from sustainably managed sites for our firewood. We have partnered with Stovax in the #GreenBritain campaign and together we are aiming to plant 10,000 new trees every year! 

Less Plastic

We understand that the amount of plastic used every day on our planet is a major issue so we have taken many steps to reduce our plastic usage across the business including removing the plastic window in our Flamers packaging in favor of one made from cornstarch and also opting for a completely plastic-free cardboard kindling box! You can now even buy our kiln dried logs in a cardboard box. 

Sustainable Production

As a business, we are striving towards carbon neutrality and have been making improvements to our production processes. Not only are our kilns all fired using our own wood waste, but much of electricity is provided by our solar panels. Last year we installed a further 75KW of new solar panels. 

100% British Timber

We are proud members of the Grown In Britain scheme guaranteeing all of the timber for our firewood is not only sourced in Britain, but sourced from within 100 miles of our base in Herefordshire.  We also only take thinning from sustainably managed woodlands.
