    All about apples!

    October is already here and that means one thing, the apple harvest is well and truly underway! Did you know that there are over 7,500 species of apple that have grown worldwide and 2,500 of those are currently grown in the UK? There is so much you can do with the humble apple, and they are even more delicious when cooking on wood is involved! Check out some of our favoruite recipes below!

    There's nothing quite like a warm mulled cider to get you feeling autumnal! Give our recipe ago this weekend, it's perfect to share around the firepit following a chilly autumn walk. 

    Ingredients

    • 400 ml Apple Juice
    • 1 - 1/2 ltr Cider
    • 75g Dark Brown Sugar
    • Orange Slices
    • Nutmeg (grated)
    • Cinnamon Sticks
    • Vanilla Pod
    • Star Anise

    Method:

    Light your wood fired oven or firepit & get it up to temperature! (Use our kiln dried logs & KindleFlamers for easy lighting!)

    Pour the cider, apple juice and sugar into a large saucepan, and gently heat to mull in your wood-fired oven.

    Add the orange, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg & star anise. Bring to a simmer, th keep on a low heat for 20-30 mins.

    Ladle into glass mugs to serve & enjoy

    All you need for this recipe is: 
    6 dessert apples
    3 tbsp brown sugar
    A small handful of dried fruit
    Fresh blackberries (optional)
    Butter

    We are now officially into autumn, and as much as we hate saying goodbye to summer, I'm sure we can all agree that this time of year is equally as magical. From golden leaves to the wonderfully crisp mornings, now is the perfect time to wrap up warm and head into the great outdoors!
