George Mardikian was bigger than life. As an immigrant from Armenia, he embraced all that is America. Besides being President Eisenhowers commissary food consultant, he was the proprietor of the famed San Francisco restaurant Ohmar Khayans (wear your military uniform, receive free food). His most notable accomplishment was to bring 10,000 Armenia refugees to America that were interned at camps throughout eastern Europe...he organized their travel, sponsorship, and ultimate arrival in the US. He was a prolific lover of food and wine. He also developed a Pinot Noir farm in Sonoma that grows incredible fruit producing the wines at MacPhail winery (part of the Hess Collection).
Experience the passion and history behind each bottle of this long-lived Pinot Noir.
