Cabernet Sauvignon is the most famous, widely planted, and revered red grape in the world. It is one of the easiest wines to recognize because of its telltale flavors of cassis, licorice, saddle leather and often blackberry and spice.
Some of the best examples of are produced in Napa and Sonoma but it flourishes all over the world. Because Cabernet is a very adaptable grape, it can create wines of great depth and structure to simpler more quaffable wines. Simpler versions can be consumed young, while structured versions can age 20 or more years.
