Every Wine Dollar Goes To The Displaced Families

    The Azerbaijani soldiers took everything:

When the Azerbaijanis invaded Artsakh (formerly Armenia), they commandeered the wineries and removed all equipment and inventory. At that time, Artsakh was fast becoming a recognized appellation for fine wine by wine enthusiasts throughout the world.

Apris Winery was in the crosshairs of the attacking soldiers and everything was taken (even the Germans in World War Two had enough sensibility to leave the wineries intact). Fermentors, barrels, bottles, and all the rest of the equipment were taken...but more importantly, they robbed many families, from grape pickers to administration staff, of their livelihood.

Garen Bagdessarian, the proprietor of Apris, was on Wine Talks with Paul K, telling the tale of war and loss.

I wanted to help, so I volunteered to put his wines out for sale...where each dollar (except shipping and tax) goes back to the displaced families of the village where Apris was standing. Each dollar, Garen keeps nothing, I keep nothing.

I have always enjoyed the wines...and the taste is even better now....wine is about experience and each sip of an Apris wine brings someone hope and encouragement.
