I snapped this shot about three minutes into our group first stepping foot on our property. My family, Iris, and Mia had an adventure to get here via Costa Rica and everyone was excited to get the party started in Nicaragua. I took this photo because I was proud of my son (far right) for not waiting around. He saw our students playing some after school pick-up soccer and he just jumped in. That really has been our M.O. all week.
Our Bible Club leader changed jobs just days before we got here, so Iris and Mia started leading in the interim. The rain slopped up the roads too much to drive all the way to one of the feeding sites, so we jumped out and carried the food through the rain on foot. (That was actually quite fun.) Our school’s Bible teacher is out this week so we’re taking it as the perfect time to get to know the students in a smaller setting and share God’s Word with them. Our first week was filled with the joy of just jumping in.
I think that’s how prayer works, too. We don’t just pontificate about it all day. This guide was never meant to only be perused. At some point, we must accept the invite to jump in feet first and pray our heart out through it.
