As this battle wages on in Ukraine, I am reminded of King Jehoshaphat’s plea to God during Judah’s impending threat of impossible war in 2 Chronicles 20:12b, “‘We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you”. I imagine that is how many Ukrainians feel right now. I know that is how I feel. We grieve with every video and photo posted. We hear the stories of young victims, courageous civilians turned soldiers, and inspiring leaders stepping up to the moment. We have been in constant contact with WEGO’s local missionary in Ukraine and simply cannot fathom what he and his countrymen are facing right now. Sergei lives 100 miles from the capital city where the majority of the conflict is taking place. Missiles have taken lives and destroyed buildings in his city but he and his family have remained safe.
Just like Jehoshaphat, we don’t know what to do. How can we possibly help? We turn our eyes to the Maker of heaven and earth, who holds the whole world in His Hands. Please join us this month in desperately seeking God on behalf of those affected by this battle and for the churches, staff, and kids in our ministries who are facing many challenges of their own.
